Tournament Rules

SECTION 1

1. REGISTRATION:  All teams must attend the Registration tent on arrival and hand in a completed squad sheet issued by Wye Juniors FC, prior to the first match commencing. 

2. TEAMS: A maximum of  10 players per squad and all matches will be 7 a side. No player shall play for more than one competing team. All players must be within the correct age group. All age groups will be competitive.

3. SUBSTITUTES: Substitutes will be on a roll-on/roll-off basis for all age groups.

4. DURATION OF GAMES: U7, U8, U9, Group matches and knockout matches will be 10 mins duration with no half time break. U10s, U11s and U12s matches will also be 10 mins duration, no half time break, apart from the finals which will be 15 mins one way.

5. MATCH RULES: Normal mini soccer rules will apply e.g. overhead height balls, players allowed into the penalty area, and throw ins and corners to be taken in the usual way (up to and including U9s). U10s and over please see Section 2.

6. MATCH CONTROL: A Referee will be appointed for each match. The Referee is in control of each match and his decision is final and binding.

7. PLAYERS DISCIPLINE: Any player receiving two yellow cards or a single red card during the course of the tournament shall take no further part. If the banned player continues to play then that team will be withdrawn from the Tournament and all matches completed will be deemed as void.

8. COLOUR CLASHES: The team drawn first in the programme are deemed to be the home team. In the event of a colour clash the away team must change or put bibs on. All teams should therefore bring an away kit or bibs.

9. GROUP PLACINGS: Group placing’s will be decided on the following basis:

  3 points for a win,

  1 point for a draw.

• Penalty shoot-out.

9.1 At the knockout stage (semi-finals / final), in the event of a draw there will be a penalty shoot-out

10. PENALTIES: If required, penalties will consist of five penalties per side which will be taken alternatively by five players indicated to the Referee before the commencement of the shoot-out. If the two teams are still level after taking five penalties then there will be a sudden death shoot-out. Each player will only take one penalty unless the entire squad has already taken a penalty.

11. PROTESTS: Any protests must be made to the Wye Juniors FC Tournament Manager directly after a game, unless lodged with the Referee prior to the start of the game. No protest in relation to a decision by Referee shall be entered into. In the event of any dispute the Referee/Tournament Manager will make a final decision.

12. MISCELLANEOUS: Any rule not covered above will comply with FA Mini Soccer League rules. Supporters are reminded to abide by the FA Respect Campaign and remain behind the designated spectator barriers.

SECTION 2 – U10, U11 & U12 ONLY

The following additional rules apply to U10, U11 & U12 age Groups.

13. GOAL KEEPERS Goal Keepers must remain in their areas for the duration of play. If they stray outside of their area then a free kick will be awarded to the opposition at the point of exiting the area. If a Goal Keeper catches or gathers the ball then they must ‘under arm throw’ the ball out to restart play. There will be no over arm throws, drop kicks or kicks from hands.

14. GOAL KICKS Can be taken as usual.
